Mary A. Ryan, 93, of Science Hill, Kentucky passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025 at Somerset Nursing and Rehab.
She was born on January 12, 1932 to the late Obe & Rebecca (Wallace) Phelps in Somerset, Kentucky.
She is survived by her sons, James Ryan and Joe Ryan both of Nancy, KY; her daughter, Beverly Lopes of Eubank, KY; her brother, Joel Phelps of Francisville, IN; her sisters, Alice Powell of Cold Springs, KY and Ruth Bryant of Eubank, KY; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Edwin Ryan; her sons, Bobbie Ryan and William Ryan; her daughter, Betty Burton; her brothers, David Phelps, Obie Phelps, and Lewis Phelps; and her sister, Maxine West.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, May 12, 2025 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Griffin officiating.
Burial will be at Mill Springs National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until time for services.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

January - May
Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
June - December
Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
