Lela Crabtree Obituary
Gladys "Lela" Crabtree, age 85, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her family.
Lela was born on October 11, 1938 in Ft. Gay, West Virginia to the late Floyd Wellman and Josephine Isabelle Hurley Wellman. She worked as a Nurse's Aide at Lake Cumberland Medical Center and at Britthaven. Lela was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Bethlehem Baptist Church and was currently attending Ringgold Baptist Church. Gladys was a devout and loving wife, mother, and Christian, always giving thanks to God for his blessings and her family. She enjoyed quilting, and spending time in Zeoherhills, FL when able.
She is survived by two sons, Dwaine (Carrie) Crabtree, Jr. of Somerset and Robert (Darla) Crabtree of Somerset; one sister, Anna Faye Hayes of Grand Haven, MI; one step grandson, Isaac Martin; and her sister in law, June Wellman. Lela came from a large family of seven children and she has several nieces and nephews whom she loved and enjoyed.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Dwaine Crabtree, whom she married on March 12, 1957 in Ft. Gay, West Virginia and he preceded her on September 24, 2007; three brothers, Denzel Wellman, Franklin D. Wellman, and Charles S. Wellman; three sisters, Florine Wellman, Birdie Delphine Vaughn, and Dorothy Louise Wellman.
Visitation will be on Thursday, May 2, 2024 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Hwy 80, Somerset, KY 42503.
Her funeral service will follow on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. David Muse officiating. Burial will be at Tanner Cemetery in Somerset.
