Ms. Kathy Popplewell passed peacefully from this life on June 24, 2024, in Danville, Kentucky.
She was born on November 27, 1949, in Corbin, Kentucky, but lived most of her life in Somerset, Kentucky. Kathy was the daughter of the late Juanita and Carter Koger, Sr. Kathy was a graduate of Somerset High School, where she was a Jumperette. She received her degrees in elementary education from Eastern Kentucky University. Kathy taught at Hogue Elementary, Northern Middle School, and Shopville Elementary until her retirement. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, and her beloved dogs.
Kathy is survived by her daughter, Jessica Popplewell Bumm (Eric); her son, Jared Popplewell (Leslie); four grandchildren, Lilly, Kinnett, Sophia, and Presley; and one great-grandchild, Lennon. She is also survived by her brother, Carter Koger, Jr.; along with nieces and nephews, Caroline Koger, Bill Withers, Brian Withers, and Deanna Withers.
At the family's request, a private service and burial will be held in loving memory of Kathy Koger Popplewell.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

January - May
Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
June - December
Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
