Kathy Haynes-Ellis
July 30, 1953 - June 7, 2022
Kathy J. Haynes-Ellis, of Russell Springs, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Fair Oaks Health and Rehabilitation, in Jamestown. She was 68 years of age.
Born July 30, 1953, in Somerset, she was a daughter of the late Willie and Betty Watkins Haynes. Kathy was a former clerk at South Kentucky Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation and a member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. She turned a hobby of growing flowers and herbs into a business of making handcrafted bath and body products, which she aptly named "Preserving Thyme." Kathy was also a member of the Sheltowee Artisan Guild. In her free time, she enjoyed boating and being out on the lake. Kathy was an animal-lover and enjoyed all of her "critters." She also had a deep love for her family and she will be missed by all that knew her.
Survivors include her husband, Mark Ellis, of Russell Springs, whom she wed on January 1, 1993; a daughter, Heather Stevens, of Lexington; a son, Mark Ellis, Jr., of Pasco, Washington; two sisters, Vicky (and Kevin) Cordell, of Somerset, and Tamara Diamond, of Middlesboro; and six grandchildren, Soren Quinata, Jacqueline Ellis, Gianna Ellis, Mark Ellis, III, Asher Stevens White, and Isabella Ellis.
In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her step-mother, Violet Haynes, and her father-in-law,Herb Ellis.
A Memorial Service will be held for Kathy at 4:00 P.M. CST, on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 250 French Valley Court, in Russell Springs, with Bro. Doug Couch officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. CST, until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. These donations will be used to provide an Appreciation Dinner for the employees of Fair Oaks Health and Rehabilitation, in gratitude for the excellent care they provided to Kathy. Donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 1011, Russell Springs, KY 42642.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.

Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
