COLDIRON, Karla Sue, 64, wife of Ronald W. Coldiron, died March 31, 2021 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, KY. Born June 1, 1956 in Lexington, KY, she was the daughter of the late Lyle and Sue Combs Mann. Mrs. Coldiron had been employed as a visual manager at Belk Department Store. Karla was magnetic. She was simultaneously the life of the party and the one who kept everyone in line. Her bright blue-green eyes, constant smile, and joyous laugh wrapped everyone in warmth and comfort. She especially lit up when it came to her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. From planning and hosting parties to road-tripping for games and graduations, no lengths kept Karla from celebrating her loved ones. She often effortlessly whipped up feasts, including her delicious strawberry pretzel salad, pot roast, corn pudding, red velvet cake, and really any casserole; and after a move, she could help you organize your new house perfectly and make it into a home. Karla also knew how to take things slowly. She enjoyed lying in the sun, especially at the beach or out on the lake, and watching soap operas, such as The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful. Karla made everyone feel like family and called you "sweetie" in a way that felt so special. To know Karla was to love her, and everyone who knew her will miss her so incredibly much. In addition to her husband, Karla is survived by six children: Michael (Charity) Thompson, Chad (Amy) Thompson, Chris (Karen) Coldiron, Cathy (Shelby) Merrick, David (Christina) Coldiron, and Shane (Emily) Smith; twelve grandchildren: Drake, Harper, Kaitlyn, Elizabeth, Daniel, Sarah, Courtney, Brinkley, Hazel, Clara, Lily, and Chloe; two great grandchildren: Truitt and Barrett; one sister: Melody Bell; and one brother: Philip Mann. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Mon., April 5 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd. Burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Drake Thompson, Andy Bell, Philip Mann, Shane Smith, David Coldiron, and Chris Coldiron. Visitation will be 11 a.m. Mon. until the service time at the funeral home.
