Jim Roberts
James "Jim" Ralph Roberts, age 83, of Nancy, KY, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland Jean Waddle Care Center.
Jim was born on August 1, 1936 in Faubush, KY to the late Charlie and Vida Cundiff Roberts. God made a farmer...a banker, a golfer, a friend, a brother, an uncle, a loving husband and most importantly a Father and Grandfather.
A pillar of Somerset banking, Jim dedicated 34 years serving his community at Citizens National Bank. But his passion began when his shift ended at the bank and he traded his dress shoes for work boots. Jim loved to farm, and through farming he made many lifelong friendships and built a great legacy for his family through it!
Although he did plenty of it, work was not all Jim thought about. On pretty days you could find him on the golf course, playing in a community scramble or just a round with friends or maybe sitting at the barn or his garage with a group of friends "shooting the bull"!
And last but certainly not least, Jim was a loving husband to his wife of 61 years, Imogene, an excellent father and grandfather. A provider, a leader, a friend. Teaching his children work ethic, life skills, discipline, how to have fun, and love for one another. Jim leaves behind a beautiful legacy for his loving children, wonderful grandchildren, and beautiful great grandchildren, and will live on in each of their hearts.
Jim is survived by his wife, Imogene Rubarts Roberts; two sisters, Lois Hatfield and Betty Garner; and a brother, Teddy (and Joyce) Roberts. He is also survived by his three daughters, Kim (and Barry) Turpen, Sherry (and Jimmy) Jones and Janice (and Jim) McCann; his grandchildren, Lacey (and Keith) Thacker, Courtney (and Bryson) Fry, Lauren (and Robbie) Granger, Blair (and Jeff) Bumgardner, Meredith and Sarah McCann, Megan (and Ben) Richardson; and seven great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, J.C. Tarter; one sister-in-law, Uva Jean Roberts; and several nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss him dearly.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Milburn Roberts and Vertrees Roberts; and two sisters, Marita Pitman and Sue Tarter
Visitation will be on Friday, February 21, 2020 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 11:00am at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Mounce officiating. Burial will be at the Turpen Family Cemetery.
