Somerset - Jesse Tutt Flynn, 83, of Somerset, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, after a short illness. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Somerset.

He was born on Sunday, April 11, 1943, in Lee County, Kentucky. Jesse was the son of the late Lydia Chambers Flynn and Grover Flynn. His family moved to Somerset shortly after his birth. Jesse attended Pisgah Elementary School. At Somerset High School, he helped lead the Briar Jumpers basketball team to the 12th Regional Championship in 1962. After graduating from SHS, he attended Lindsey Wilson Junior College for 2 years and later earned a bachelor's degree in Education from Kentucky Wesleyan College (Owensboro, KY) in 1967. Jesse played on the Panthers' 1966 NCAA Division II National Championship basketball team. For his athletic endeavors, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame at Somerset High School, Lindsey Wilson College, and the 12th Region Basketball.

While living in Owensboro, Kentucky, he married Norma (Whitney) Flynn. It would be a blessed union that lasted 57 years. Jesse was a teacher and successful basketball coach at Livermore High School in McLean County for 2 years after graduating from college. He returned to Somerset in 1970 and worked many years with his brother at Max Flynn Motors in downtown Somerset and on South Highway 27. He was an accomplished vehicle salesman with Toyota of Somerset until his retirement in 2007.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Scott Flynn; a sister, Mary Flynn Morgan; and brothers, Dock, Max, Bob, Fred, and Joe Flynn.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory: his wife, Norma (Whitney) Flynn; his son, Mark (Amy) Flynn; his grandchildren, Jackson and Jessalyn Flynn; numerous nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law; and other relatives and friends.

He was a kind man who loved his family and friends. His grandchildren brought him tremendous joy in his later years. He will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, in the Chapel of Somerset Undertaking Co & Crematory. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be at 6:00 pm in the Funeral Home Chapel. A Private Inurnment will be in the Alexander Chapel Cemetery in Bronston, Kentucky, at a later date.
