Somerset - Don Edward Nichols, son of the late Clinton Carson and Carole Deon Larner Nichols, was born on November 14, 1954 in Pheonix, AZ and he departed this life on Saturday, April 26, 2025 having attained the age of 70 years.
He was united in marriage to Molly Clark Nichols on October 1st, 1999 in Somerset, KY. She survives.
Other survivors include; one son, Troy Nichols and his significant other Kendall Thompson; a step-son, Samuel (Tammy) Smith; two step-daughters, Rhonda Hatfield and Sonya Smith; grandchildren, Zachary Nichols, Michael (Macon) King, Morgan King, Amanda Nichols, Xavier Nichols, Dustin Smith and Taylor (and Drew) Johnson; five great grandchildren, Joshua and Patience Salter, Brentley, Kolt, Octavia King; two brothers, Larry (Fran) Nichols and Kenneth (Cheryl) Nichols; one daughter-in-law, Amanda Phelps Nichols and a host of other relatives and friends who mourn his passing.
Other than his parents, he was also preceded in death by; one son, James Nichols, one grandson, Briceton Turner; one sister, Brenda Branscum and one brother, Steve Nichols.
He worked for Tecumseh manufacturing until the plants closure, he then decided to further his education by enrolling at Somerset Community College, upon graduation, he went to work for Oakwood until he retired. Upon retirement from Oakwood he took up a position of school bus driver for the county school system where he enjoyed the children that he picked up on his route.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Somerset and was active there as long as his health permitted. He loved the pastoral staff and church family they were very dear to him.
A funeral service will be held at the Pulaski Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 30th, 2025. Burial will immediately follow at the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
The family of Mr. Don Nichols will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. Wednesday until time for services.
In lieu of flowers the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
