Cynthia Jones Perez, age 93 of Bradenton, Florida formerly of Somerset, Kentucky passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025 in Bradenton after an extended illness.
She was born on January 13, 1932 in Louisville, Kentucky, daughter of the late William Basil "W. B." Jones and Willie Marion Boyer Jones. She was a graduate of Somerset High School attended Centre College in Danville, Kentucky and graduate of Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky. Cynthia was united in marriage to Raymond A. Perez on June 2, 1956, in Somerset, Kentucky. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage before his death in 2018. Cynthia was a retired school teacher at Franklin High School in Franklin, Ohio. She was a member of the Palma Sola Presbyterian Church in Bradenton, Florida, and was a life member of Phi Beta Psi Sorority (a group fighting cancer), a member of the Manatee River Garden Club, as well as the Ohio Association of Garden Clubs and the Creative Flora arrangers of the Americas. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Women of Manatee County Republican Club. Cynthia was a loving, kind-hearted, highly respected educator and community advocate, she will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother; W. Basil Jones and a sister; Jo Agnus Jones Carter.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews; Jeffery T. Carter of Dallas, Texas, Leslie C. Prall of Carmel, Indiana, John T. Carter of Scottsburg, Indiana, Cynthia J. West of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Christopher F. Jones of Lexington, Kentucky, Tod Perez of Vandalia, Ohio, Joy M. Perez of Ft. Myers, Florida and Ray Perez of Massillon, Ohio as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
In accordance with her wishes, Cremation has taken place and she is now together with her beloved husband who has been waiting in Florida for their reunion.
A Graveside Service and Inurnment of Cynthia and Raymond will be held at 2:00 p.m. on April 11, 2025 in the Somerset City Cemetery with Pastor David Holden Officiating. You may offer condolences and sign the Online Tribute Book at www.somersetundertaking.com.
