Bronston - Betty S. Hughes, age 82, of Bronston, Kentucky, passed from this life on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Betty was born on September 22, 1943 to the late Vernon Ragle and Katie Bunch Ragle in Burnside, Kentucky.

She was of the Pentecostal faith and she enjoyed bingo, playing cards, corn hole, and was a great cook.

She enjoyed babysitting and helping with her grandkids. She truly missed her bingo friends, her friends, family and extended family.

Along with her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Bertie Hughes, her brothers Melvin Ragle and Harold Ragle, and sister Lucille Troxtell.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sons: Ricky Hughes (Ruby), Jimmy Hughes, Doug Hughes (Teresa) all of Bronston; daughters: Darla Hardwick (Bobby) of Somerset, Ky; Kimberly Arthur (Doug) of Bronston; Kathy Lewis of Tateville, Ky; brothers Johnny Ragle (Judy) and Junior Ragle (Kathy), sisters Debbie Carrender and Kathy Ping; along with 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild on the way. Also survived by her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Norma (Gary) Hardwick and Thurman Carrender.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 6, 2026 at 5pm in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at 2pm at the funeral home with Bro. Perry Dobbs officiating. Burial will follow in Bronston Cemetery. Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Betty S. Hughes.
