Vinous L. Barnes, age 75, of Somerset, KY, passed away on Monday, October 02, 2017 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Vinous was born on August 3, 1942 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Lorn B. Barnes and Izetta May Roberts Barnes. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. Vinous also enjoyed singing, going to flea markets and out to eat. He was a Helicopter Crew Chief in Vietnam, proudly serving in our United States Army. He retired from Chrysler in Kokomo, Ind. after thirty-one years.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Colclazier Barnes, whom he married on January 11, 1968 in Indianapolis, Ind.; one son, Robert Barnes of Somerset; one daughter, Regina Dawn (and Michael) Reese of Greenwood, Ind.; two step-sons, Phillip Glentzer of Greenfield, Ind. and Keith Glentzer of Indianapolis, Ind.; one sister, Mynevia Miller of Indianapolis, Ind.; three grandchildren, Shannon Ford, Josh Clayton and Sarah Clayton; one great grandchild, Mary Jane Alivia Clayton; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Dennis Lorn Barnes; and two grandchildren, Amy Ford and Gary Ford.
Visitation will be on Thursday, October 5, 2017 from 12:00pm until 1:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
His funeral service will follow on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 1:00pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Mullins officiating. Burial will be at Mill Springs National Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by the Post #38 Honor Guard.
