Sherran Woolard Egedi, 73, passed on from this life Sunday May 21, 2017 at Baptist Health Lexington, from ongoing health issues. Sherri, as she preferred to be called, was born August 31, 1943 in Norfolk, Virginia to William and Emmalyne Woolard.
Sherri grew up in Yorktown, Virginia. She attended Campbell College in Buies Creek, North Carolina, The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Troy University in Troy, Alabama. She later continued her love of education with advanced degrees from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky.
Sherri worked over twenty years in the Somerset Independent School System as a special education teacher. She touched many lives during her years of service. She was a supporter of the foster care system, taking in over 19 children over the years. In addition, she acted as a substitute Mom and Grandma to many other children and teenagers. She will be missed by all those whose lives she impacted.
Sherri is preceded in death by her brother, William Dahl Woolard, and her daughter, Michelle Egedi Pepper. She is survived by her family: Rick Egedi Sr.; daughter Dania (Doug Thelen) Egedi, grandson Daniel Thelen and granddaughter Katie Egedi; son Rick Egedi Jr.; and daughter Keila (James Thaxton) Egedi, Grandson Cory Egedi. Sherri is also survived by her sister, Robbie Ramsey, niece Katlyn Ramsey; and her brother, Randy Woolard, niece Mandy (Jared Huffman) Woolard Huffman and great niece Grayce Huffman.
Sherri requested there be no public services but did ask that her thanks be given to her many friends over the years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local animal rescue or reading program.
