Ronald's Story

Ronald C. Johnson, age 74 of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at the Jean Waddle Hospice Care Center of Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He was born on November 1, 1942 in Nancy, Kentucky, son of the late Coyle and Iva Fern Johnson. He is the husband of Linda Sue Johnson and was a dedicated father and grandfather. After graduating barbering college Ronald spent a brief time as a barber, eventually retiring as a maintenance man from Lear Siegler and worked
notably at Southern Belle Dairy for 29 years. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and family, and was a dedicated fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats basketball team. Ronald himself played basketball and was a star player, player #20, of the Nancy High School Dragons Team, class of 1961 with whom he remained in
contact. Ronald was a member of West Somerset Baptist Church for 43 years and was loved by all who knew him.
Ronald is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda Sue Johnson of Somerset, KY, as well as two daughters, Melissa (Jeff) Burton of Nancy, KY, Beth (Johnny) Adkins of Ferguson, KY. Four randchildren, Kody Burton Reynolds, Katelyn Burton, Kasey Burton, and Cole Adkins. He leaves behind a special sister-inlaw, Linda Lou Pierce
of Nancy, KY as well as a cousin, Terry Vito of Nancy, KY, and a lifelong friend, Keith Flanagan of Nancy, KY as well as many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews who cherish his memory.
Ronald is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters-in-law, Janet Jasper whom he thought of as a sister, Barbara Flynn, and Edna Pierce, two brothers-in-law, Wayne Pierce and Troy Pierce, and two cousins, Paul Vito Jr. and Dewayne Vito.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 6:00 PM with funeral services held on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Burnetta Cemetery in Nancy, Kentucky.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made in the form of contributions to the Hospice of Lake Cumberland or the Burnetta Cemetery Fund.
The family of Ronald would like to extend a special mention of gratitude to the team at the Jean Waddle Hospice Center for their loving dedication and comfort during his treatment.
