Dana's Story

Dana Turner, age 98, of Somerset, departed this life on Friday, April 7, 2017 at his residence surrounded by family.
He was born on August 5, 1918 in Ano, KY, to the late John D. and Viola Chaney Turner. Dana is a US Army Veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his two daughters, Joan Smither of Somerset and Judy Ann Tolle of Greenfield, IN.; ten grandchildren, Aaron Carson, Robert (and Mary) Carson, Robin (and Ralph) Martin, Ricky Carson, Ashley (and Lucas) Poynter, James (and Amanda) Howe, Terry (and Sandy) Burgett, Tina (and Jimmy) Smith, Tony (and Chris) Turner and Natalie (and Mike) Robinson; twenty three great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Arthur Turner, whom he married on March 15, 1946 in London, KY, and preceded him on February 6, 2017; two sons, Dale Dana Turner, and Onvie Wayne Turner; a grandson, Thomas Gregory Howe, Jr.; three brothers, Everett, Elbert, and Matt; and two sisters, Edith, and Lela.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 after 5:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 11:00am in the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Rick Lawson officiating. Burial will be in the Adkins-Arthur Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dana's grandsons. Full military honors to be conducted by the American Legion Post #38.
The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
