Wilma  Colyer


Wilma Colyer, age 85, of Somerset, KY, passed away on Friday, August 9, 2019 at the Jean Waddle Hospice Care Center.
Wilma was born on June 12, 1934 in Somerset, KY to the late Samuel Bennie Phelps and Thelma Roark Phelps. She attended God's Temple in Fairfield, OH for over 20 years, before moving back to Somerset. Wilma is a member of Wesley Chapel Church, where she taught Sunday school and Bible study class. She enjoyed farming, cooking and spending time with her family. Wilma was a foster parent to many children and she was like a mother to all children. She touched many people and her legacy will live on.
She is survived by her children, Tammy Gwen Colyer of Somerset, Raymond Lee Colyer, Jr. of Omega Park and Stanley Wade Colyer of Omega Park; one brother, Benny Ray Phelps of Somerset; two sisters, Ruthella Phelps of Somerset and Helen Joyce Meece of Crofton, KY; and a host of nieces, nephews and foster children.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Lee Colyer, whom she married on November 15, 1952 in Vincennes, IN and he preceded her on November 5, 2008; one daughter, Patricia Lynn Colyer; two sisters, Lois Dean Meece and Juanita Sue Muse; and one infant sister, Anna Belle Phelps.
Visitation will be on Sunday, August 11, 2019 from 1:00pm until 3:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
Her funeral service will follow on Sunday at 3:00pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Stanley Sears officiating. Burial will be at Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to the Wesley Chapel Cemetery Fund.
