Wendell Ray Jones was suddenly and unexpectedly called home on June 4, 2017.
He was born on April 7, 1953 to Oscar and Jessie Adams Jones. He was a proud member of the United States Navy and United States Air Force. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Science Hill. He worked as a bookkeeper and an inventory specialist for many local businesses until his retirement. Wendell was a dedicated member of the True Blue Nation, and took his calling as a Wildcat fan very seriously.
Wendell is survived by his soulmate, Vicky Bradley Jones, who was lucky enough to be married to this wonderful man for 33 years. They were married on February 8, 1984 and were constant friends and companions during the ensuing years.
Wendell was born into a large family with many surviving members, including his sisters, Bernice Jones, Georgia Bowling, and Nancy Gibbs; his brothers, Michael (and Gail) Jones, and Teddy (and Virginia) Jones.
He was a very special uncle "Bubba" to Dianne (and John) Eubanks, Dewayne Jones, Barry (and Rhonda) Logan; fellow UK buddy, Shannon (and Cindy) Logan, Brian (and Andria) Logan, Robert Bowling, and Jennifer Gibbs. Wendell was also a much loved uncle to Whitney (and Shawn) Fletcher, Jake (and Brittany) Meece, Kylie (and Rolando) Flores, Brad (and Melissa) Woodcock, Rachel (and Anthony) Acton, Daniel (and Emily) Woodcock, Nick Meece, Tre' Dillion, Tyler Dillion, and his most precious blessings, Haley Childers, Delaney (and Ernesto) Vasquez, and Sydney Childers. Wendell loved his family with all his heart, and was blessed with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many cousins of whom he was very proud.
Waiting to welcome Wendell home is his father, his beloved mother; his father in-law, Edward Bradley; an infant niece, Sheila Logan; two nephews, Anthony Whittle and Marcus Logan; and his much loved, fellow UK fanatic, his niece, Valerie Jones.
Wendell was much loved and will be missed by all those whose lives he had touched.
His visitation will be on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 after 5:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 11:00am in the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Stan Childers, Bro. Edward Massey, and Bro. Daniel Woodcock officiating. Burial will be in the Woodstock Cemetery.
