Verbena Engman, age 91, of Somerset passed from this life on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital after an extended illness.
She was born on October 4, 1925 in Crab Orchard, Kentucky to the late Abe Harrison Brown and Susie Barker Brown. She worked several years as an office Manager and Co-owner-operator of their family heating and air business. Verbena enjoyed the beauty of flowers and gardening. She was a member of Mount Zion Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Charles Engman whom she married in 1958. A brother; Frank Brown, and three sisters; Margie Braley, Edith Thompson and Vivian Brown.
She is survived by her sons; Jerry Gilpin and Darrell (Patricia) Gilpin, all of Somerset; Brothers; Joseph Brown of Milford, Ohio, Jasper Brown of Woodstock, and Shirl Brown of Crab Orchard. Three sisters; Sadie Car of Charlotte, North Carolina, Glenda Campbell of Russell Springs, Kentucky and Dovie New of Somerset, Kentucky. Four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will begin at 12 Noon on Saturday, April 22, 2017 in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2017 in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. David Muse officiating.
Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Crab Orchard.
Southern Oaks Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Verbena Engman.
