Onedia F. "Neta" Slaughter, age 75, of Somerset, passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2017, at Somerwoods Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility.
Neta was born on October 4, 1941, in Somerset, daughter of the late Ray and Lola Woods Slaughter. She was Valedictorian of the Pulaski County High School graduating class of 1959. Neta was an employee of South Kentucky RECC for 38 years. She was a life-long member of the Somerset First Church of the Nazarene.
She is survived by her sisters, Dolly Slaughter Landrum, of Heath, OH, and Flora Slaughter Sullivan, of Mason, OH; her aunt, Esther Slaughter; nieces and nephews, Dee and Mike Kirk, John and Mary Landrum, Jenny and Eugene Danner, of Newark, OH, and Robbie Sullivan, of Cincinnati; many cousins; and her special friends, Judy Phelps, Sue Bates, Joyce Thornton, Pat Keith, Nicole Chaplin, Chris Neirsman and Rebecca Dunsmore.
Neta is preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., in the chapel of Somerset Undertaking Company.
A Celebration of the Life of Onedia F. "Neta" Slaughter will be held on Sunday, August 27, 2017, at 1:30 p.m., in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mark Routt officiating. Interment will be in the Pisgah Memorial Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill Turpen and Kenneth Woods.
A Special Thank You to Judy Phelps, Sue Bates, Joyce Thornton, Pat Keith and the caring staff of Somerwoods Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility, for the care and companionship given to Neta.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations made to the Youth Department of the Somerset First Church of the Nazarene or to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
