Mary Belle Ping, age 91, of Somerset, passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at the Neighborhood.
Mary Belle was born on September 5, 1925, in Somerset, daughter of the late Tilman Cleo and Cora Mae Griffis Gregory. She was a graduate of the Somerset High School Class of 1943. Mary Belle married Clyde Ping on March 27, 1949, in Somerset. She retired as bookkeeper for Somerset High School. Mary Belle volunteered at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital and enjoyed traveling and gardening, but her focus was on her family. She loved hosting family gatherings and caring for her family; for Clyde, her daughter, Amy, and her siblings. She was a member of First Baptist Church, of Somerset. She is survived by her husband, Clyde; her daughter, Amy Maurer (Michael), of Nacogdoches, TX; and her brothers, Charles Gregory (Kathy), Louisville, Al Gregory (Ruth), of Phoenix, AZ, Tommy Gregory (Diane), of Lexington, Robert Gregory (Elizabeth), of Roseville, CA.
Along with her parents, Mary Belle is preceded in death by her brothers, Paul Gregory, George Gregory, Johnny Gregory and Gerald Gregory; and her sisters, Betty Robinson and Janice Hollis.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 9, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., in the chapel of Somerset Undertaking Company and Crematory.
There will be a visitation on Monday, April 10, 2017, at 12 noon, at the First Baptist Church of Somerset, until time for services.
A Celebration honoring the life of Mary Belle Ping will be held on Monday, April 10, 2017, at 1:00 p.m., at the First Baptist Church of Somerset, with Dr. French Harmon officiating. Interment will be in Somerset Cemetery.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the First Baptist Church of Somerset.
