James "Jim" A. Hurtt, age 73, of Monticello, Kentucky, passed from this life on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the Wayne County Hospital.
He was born on October 9, 1943 in Royal Oaks, Michigan, son of the late Reuben and Mary Wise Hurtt. Jim was a Production Supervisor with Tecumseh Products prior to his retirement. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, camping and the splendor of being outdoors. He was of the Christian faith and a member of the Mt. Vernon Street Church of Christ. He will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by a grandson; Jared Hurtt, and his siblings; Bill Hurtt, Robert Hurtt and Christiana Baugher.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories; his loving and devoted wife of 49 years; Shirley Miller Hurtt, whom he married on November 24, 1967 in Kirkpatrick, Ohio. Sons; Michael Hurtt of Tateville and Bobby (Spring) Hurtt of Bronston and Daughter; Teri (Mark) Lee of Monticello, Brother; Richard (Barbara) of Arizona, grandchildren; Christopher Lester, Ashlee Lee, Zabery (Lauren) Hurtt, Cassandra Lester- Atkinson (Savannah), Wyatt Hurtt, Savanah Hurtt and Payton Berth and great grandchildren; Caitlynn, Parker, Magnum, Riley, Camden, Elizabeth and Sienna as well a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 25, 2017 in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with the Funeral Service immediately following at 1:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Grant Hardwick officiating. Interment will be in the Serenity Garden of Southern Oaks Cemetery.
