Garry's Story

Garry Wayne Stacy, age 61 of Somerset, KY departed this life on January 29, 2018 at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington.
His journey began on October 1, 1956 in Somerset, KY, as the 2nd child and only son of Aster and Ernestine Stacy. Garry was a graduate of Pulaski County High School in 1974. He was an Assistant Manager with Parts Plus Inc. and oversaw their machine shop. Later he was a Manager with Wonderfuel, LLC of Duraflame, Inc.
Garry grew up around sports; he was a loyal fan of the Big Blue Nation and a follower of NASCAR. He loved being at the lake fishing, slalom skiing and even did some scuba diving. Another passion of his was flowers; in the past few years he would often scout garden centers to check out the latest floral varieties. He had a great sense of humor and was a great storyteller that captivated his family and friends.
He is survived by his mother, Ernestine Stacy who is in Hazard, KY; one daughter Amy Rene Madden (and Jason Lunce) of Louisville, KY; two sons, Adam Wayne Stacy (and LeeAnn Durham) of Berea, KY and Andrew Stephen Stacy (and Larissa Carrier) of Berea, KY; and a very special person in his life, Janet Gaskins; two sisters, Sharon Elaine Yonts (and Charles Glen Yonts) of Somerset, KY and Tamela Sue Duff (and Robert Patrick Duff) of Hazard, KY; seven grandchildren, Ashley Madden, Stacy Lunce, Emma Lunce, Trenton Durham, Zacharee Stacy and Alyiah Jade Cook.
He was preceded in death by his father, Aster C. Stacy.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 3:00pm with Bro Bill Meece officiating.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Yonts, Wesley Yonts, Howard Evans, Tommy Wilson, Adam Stacy, Pat Duff and Conor Duff.
