Etta Griffin Brinson, age 60, of Somerset, KY, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Etta was born on March 26, 1959 in Berea, KY to Vada Glindlean "Glenna" Roberts Powers and the late Paul Kenneth Griffin. She was a member of Harvest Time Assembly of God. Etta opened and managed Dollar General Stores. She also helped her sister in the office at Cumberland Classic. Etta was a writer, artist and loved to cook. She especially loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Brinson Jr., whom she married on June 23, 2011 in Somerset, KY; her mother, Glenna Powers of Somerset; two sons, Sa'ben (and Jamie) Blair of Mt. Vernon and Chaz (and Jinny) Brinson of Science Hill; two daughters, Corina Brinson of Somerset and Carlen McCain of St. Joseph, MO; one brother, Douglas (and Carolyn) Griffin of Mt. Vernon; two sisters, Rebecca Matias of Somerset and Juanita (and Billy) Stallsworth of Independence, KY; thirteen grandchildren, Tyler Dunn, Chance Wesley Brinson, McKenzie Wesley Brinson, Sage Brinson, Kaimyn Brinson, Chelsea Blair, Caleb Blair, Shyann Blair, Bryson Blair and Rhylee McCain, Sierra Estes, Jeffrey Crowe, and Bella Crowe; numerous nieces and nephews and other family members who were very special to her.
Etta was preceded in death by her father, Paul Kenneth Griffin; two brothers, Derel and Robert Griffin; one niece, Kaitlyn Griffin; one brother-in-law, Darrell Matias; special step-father, Edward "Pop" Powers; and her former husband, Gary Farris.
Visitation will be on Saturday, July 27, 2019 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Harvest Time Assembly of God.
Her funeral service will follow on Saturday at 1:00pm at Harvest Time Assembly of God with Bro. Steve Mullins officiating. Entombment will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.

I knew this family back in the early 70’s. Paul,Glenna, Robert,Doug,Jaunita, Derel, Etta, and Becky. We lived out the road from them about a mile.this was when they all lived on Red Hill road in Livingston Ky. Ate a few good meals at Glenna’s kitchen, and helped put up hay with them one summer. We moved to London and I never seen much of them since.I moved to Somerset a couple years ago and didn’t realize that they were living so close to me. Nothing but fond memories of Etta and her family.🙏💐
