Roland "Douglas" Colyer, age 57, of Somerset, passed away on Tuesday, May 09, 2017 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital after an extended illness.
He was born on December 6, 1959 in Dayton, Ohio, son of Harold and Joann Sears Colyer. Doug was self-employed as owner operator of Roland Construction in Hawaii. He was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling.
Doug was preceded in death by a special brother-in-law; Don Turner, a nephew; Kyle Roberts and great niece; Jazilyn Martin.
He is survived by his parents; Harold and Joann Sears Colyer of Somerset, brother; Carrol and Patty Colyer of Somerset, sister; Genevieve Turner of Somerset and Sylvia and Tim Roberts of Bronston along with his nieces and nephews; Chris and Jalessa Colyer, Travis and Lisa Martin, Jasmine Martin, Darrin Turner, Scott Turner and Rachel Turner and her fiancé Zack Grigsby.
Pallbearers will be Travis Martin, Robin Denniston, Chris Colyer, Richard Colyer, Darrin Turner and Scott Turner
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 12 in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with the Funeral Services to follow at 12:00 Noon with Brother Charles Meece and Brother Jeff Lockard Officiating.
Interment will be in the Clay Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
