Dickie's Story

Dickie Lynne Colby Summerlin 73, of Sarepta, Louisiana, formerly of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2017 in Sarepta, LA.
She was born in Bossier City, Louisiana on February 10, 1944, daughter of the late Richard Henry and Juanita Inez Hunt Colby. She lived a very vibrant life until her recent illness and fought bravely until her Lord called her home. She was a member of New Sarepta Baptist Church where through her witnessing, many lives were changed. She worked for Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, Humana and Columbia Hospitals for 32 years where she was director of materials. She loved painting, camping, and fishing and will be remembered as the best of the best. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Billy Summerlin; two sons, Dean Summerlin and wife, Becky of Longview, WA, Glen Summerlin and wife, Teresa of Owens Crossroad, AL; two grandchildren, Brandy Cole and husband, Ryan, Deana Summerlin; three great-grandchildren, Hunter Summerlin, Bella Summerlin, Natasha Cole; two sisters, Mary Poe, Celeste Lee; two brothers, Wayne Colby, David Colby; half sister, Joyce Hobby; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Summerlin was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service for Mrs. Dickie Lynne Colby Summerlin will be held at 4:00 PM Friday, August 25, 2017 at the New Sarepta Baptist Church, Sarepta, LA, with Bro. Marty Wright and Bro. Paul Summerlin officiating.
